Food will be a main topic of many of my blogs, because in general, from my experience, and the experience I have had with working with clients, food has an affect on our mood, our weight, energy levels, and overall health.
There are hundreds of different diet books available to help with losing weight and improving health. I think that I have read most of them. The intriguing part is that the recommendations are so diverse, but all backed by scientific evidence. I believe the key is to figure out if there are any food sensitivities interfering with the body's ability to work efficiently. This one discovery can make all of the difference between physical and mental health, and the ability to lose weight. Clients come to me with health concerns that range from digestive issues, headaches, mood disorders, rashes, fatigue and much more, and we look at toxins and lack of nutrients that may be affecting overall health. I also dig into possible food sensitivities, and try to relay the importance of avoiding the foods that are stressing the system. Many times this seems like an overwhelming feat, because many of the foods that we eat everyday, and that are included in the majority of processed foods are the greatest offenders - corn syrup, gluten and soy. For some people, it can be healthy foods that are causing the issue. This is why one diet plan will not work in the long term for the majority of people. We are all exposed to different toxins, have different levels of stress, and therefore need a customized diet plan. Food sensitivities and intolerances are difficult to identify, because unlike a food allergy, the symptoms may not show up until an hour, and even up to three days after eating an offending food.
